Stevie, an ARTIE Academy student from Beenleigh State High School, has been successful in achieving the ARTIE Academy Accelerate Challenge in Term Two.
The ARTIE Academy Accelerate Challenge is designed to set individual achievement targets and have weekly mentor meetings with ARTIE Academy Education Coordinators to keep them on track and to work through any challenges or barriers.
Beenleigh ARTIE Academy Education Coordinator Jacob, approached Stevie after her attendance started to fall quiet drastically in Term One. In Term Two, Stevie worked with Jacob to set a goal for attendance and to stay on track.
Stevie was determined to make a change and set her own challenge to reach 70% school attendance by the end of the Term. She knew that this was going be an uphill battle as she was only sitting on 40% for the previous Term.
Weekly meetings with Jacob to track attendance and see her progress helped her to see that this goal was possible.
Stevie’s reward for her efforts wasn’t just for herself; she wanted to share her achievement with loved ones and was rewarded with six vouchers to Sizzler so she could take her whole family out to lunch or dinner.
“Thank you ARTIE and Jacob, you have really changed my perspective on school”.
Stevie said that she had a great time taking her whole family out to lunch and ate a whole 450gram steak to herself!
Congratulations Stevie, keep up the great work!
